4 steps to Success
4 steps
My 4 step process works well for:
- Any painting SUBJECT
- Any painting STYLE
1: Tone
2: Blocking
3: Texture
4: Detail
Advantages of working this way:
- Speed. You can finish stages 1 and 2 in 10-20 minutes once you know what you are doing.
- Style. The style of the painting is not defined until stage 3: texture.
- Corrections. Everything in the painting can be changed. Mountains can be moved any time in these first three stages.
- Detail is last. You learn to work structurally, not from the surface detail.
