What will we learn in this painting?
- Skin colour
- Skin tones
- Square Brush
We start with a few sketches.
Having analysed the face and gained some confidence and moving your hand around it, we loosely paint the features with a size 6 round bristle brush.
Switching to a size 9 soft nylon liner brush we add dark lines. This very versatile brush enables us to go from a thin line to a broad stroke in one movement!
At this stage we can really start to define it as _her_ face.
Now we switch to the soft nylon flat brush and start adding colour.
Our skin palette
Maintaining a "painterly style", we are careful not to over blend.
We make some artistic decisions about the colour of her sweater and voila! A very pleasing Marilyn portrait.
