Tone
We will start with a cool grey tone.
Blocking
Beautiful colours of the rose.
Loosely sketching the composition.
We then glaze with Derivan MM7 Polymer Gloss Varnish. I show you how to mix the glaze and which brush and brush strokes to use.
Texture
In this session we will learn how to use Derivan's Cadmium Red in their Matisse Structure range.
The viscosity of this paint will give the petals a luscious and thick texture.
Notice the delicate, directional brush strokes all using our standard round bristle brush.
Finding the direction and colour of the brushstrokes.
The paint is still applied quite thinly.
Detail
Here the painting process changes radically as we bring out the impasto. Very delicate brush strokes are required.
In fact the brush never touches the canvas at this stage.
My finished interpretation.
