Gabriel Faure (1845-1924)
Here are a few of his most popular works:
- Pavane, Op. 50 - The pavane was a slow processional dance common in the Renaissance (16c). Faure recasts it in all the glorious colours of the modern orchestra.
- Fantasie, Op.79 for Flute. - Listen to the articulation of the flute as it floats above the lush harmonies like flowers in a Monet meadow.
- Requiem in D minor, Op. 48. - Faure's most loved choral work.
